Faculty-Carol Vogel

Carol Vogel is known for her realistic and expressive paintings.
Paintings that dance with energy, color, and form that are influenced by the classical style of the old masters best describe my painting style.  A love of collecting vintage glass and ceramics inspire my still life paintings along with a passion for travel to international locations.  My still life paintings reflect a mood and feeling often with lush pattern backgrounds, vivid color, and unusual combinations of supports and collectible items.

I live on an ambient and peaceful pond that serves as a meeting ground for a wide variety of birds.  Many variety of ducks, blue and white heron, osprey, eagles, swans, and migrating bird species grace the waters during the year.  I find inspiration for large bird paintings in both oil and pastel from their presence.

I started planning and escorting international painting tours in 1998.  Originally partnering with The Art League School of Alexandria, Va. and then branching out on my own, I have escorted and taught painting groups in Ireland, Italy, and France, and Corsica.  In addition I hold weekly art classes and workshops in my home, teaching studio as well as Kensington, MD.

For 10 years I co-owned an event and travel business.  Each year I marketed and escorted tours and cruises to locations in Europe, Canada, Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, and Asia.  My extensive travel inspires my paintings.

I began teaching drawing and painting in 2008.  Right from the start I realized how much I enjoy sharing my art knowledge and skill with both young and adult students.  Seeing them grow and flourish in their artistic vision and accomplishment is a special joy of mine.

I work from my home studio located in Annapolis, Maryland.
